Professional Profile

Tom has forty-plus years of legal experience in commercial transactions, corporate governance, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions, with particular emphasis in recent years on the insurance and banking industries.  He also accepts certain pro bono and civic engagements.

He began his career with the Wall Street firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore, then moved to Omaha where he was a partner with Kutak Rock from 1974-1990.  In 1990 he joined Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company as an Executive Vice President and served as Mutual’s General Counsel from 1994 until his retirement in late 2008.  Following settlement of a shareholder class action in late 2008 against infoGROUP (NASDAQ:IUSA), the senior management team departed and the new team hired Tom as Executive Vice President for Business Conduct and General Counsel.  He served in that position until infoGROUP was acquired in June 2010.  Since that time, he has practiced with smaller law firms in Omaha and now maintains his own private practice.

Tom earned both his bachelor’s and law degrees with honors from the University of Notre Dame, where he was ranked first in his law class.  He is admitted to practice in the States of Nebraska and New York.
